Cholesterol Levels… Do you know yours?

About two weeks ago I went to my doctor for a routine check up and asked him to measure my cholesterol. I actually expected that my cholesterol will be low, and here is what came out:
Total cholesterol : 179 mg/dl ( range is between 140-199 is norm) so , I thought, there is nothing to worry about, but I kept reading…
Triglycerides – 61 mg/dl ( range is 49 – 149 is norm) so that was fine as well. But HDL cholesterol ( good cholesterol) was 53 mg/dl, where you want it as high as you can, prefferably of course somewhere about 80-90… so I need to work on getting that number highter… and LDL ( bad cholesterol) is 114 mg/l where norm is anything lower than 100!!!! so mine is high and the best is abgout 80-70!!! I am in shock and up for research and wilkl do what it takes to get my LDL to 70-80 and my HDL to 70-80 as well!!!
so here is an article to help you to understand cholesterol factors
http://www.webmd.com/cholesterol-management/features/11-tips-to-cut-your-cholesterol-fast

and here is one to help you to understand cholesterol numkbers

http://www.webmd.com/cholesterol-management/guide/understanding-numbers

so all you need to do is make an appointmebt with doxtor, fast for 12 hours, and request blood test. Then take all your numbers and compare with norm!

I also checked my Ferritin level ( storage of Iron in blood) and that was low despite the fact that my iron in blood is normal. So I will take Iron Supplements and will change my diet accordinly and will take another test in 6 weeks to see what happens.

It is exciting and fun to do research and read the numbers and see how you can affect your heakth with small changes.

The new thing I learned today is : NEW GUIDELINES OF US GOVERNMENT SAID THAT 5 SERVINGS OF FRUITS AND GEVETABLES ARE NOT ENOUGH! YOU NEED  TO HAVE 7 – 13 SERVINGS! THIS IS HUGE NEWS AND I WILL TRY NOW TO DO JUST THAT.
